Desert racer continued………..

After being beaten into 3rd by the American works Hummer team in the 1993 Baja 1000 John returned to Mexico for the 1994 race determined to beat them. He had bored out his 5.7 Chevy motor to 6.0L and was accompanied by “Land Rover World” magazine and their film crew. Here are a few images from the magazine’s extended article.

Interesting to note that out of 218 starters only 78 actually finished the race.

Then on with the Rebuild……

Rolling chassis, roll cage and tub completed its time to start on the bodywork, all modified and lightened with lots of damage it’s another long job. We are Trying to save as many of the original parts as possible. Sadly, the off-side wing was beyond help.
